Dan Dance, pianist

For over 30 years, Dan Dance has entertained Milwaukeeans in many venues. As resident pianist at Chip and Py's these past 15 years he has kept his repertoire fresh and varied, his attitude young and flexible, and his fan base growing every year.

Dan is a classically trained jazz pianist. He has incorporated both his formal classical and jazz improvisational training into a truly eclectic style. His influences range from Bach to Bartok, Gershwin to Gillespie. His stellar technique allows his youthful personality and passionate approach to music shine through his playing. It is not unusual, when listening to Dan, to hear a Chopin prelude performed as the introduction to a popping rendition of a classic jazz standard.

In addition to performing, Dan has extensive experience with recording, teaching, composing, and arranging all styles of music. He is comfortable in your home or on a stage, performing as a solo pianist or as part of a larger ensemble.

Dan's style is unique, his approach is fun, his personality is sparkling, and his abilities are unequalled. You will not find another musician who is as happy and grateful as Dan to be performing live music on a regular basis. His enthusiasm spills into his teaching, where he openly shares his knowledge and experience with his students. His love for music is contagious. You will hear a passionate and fun, articulate and inventive performance every time you hear him play.
